Title of the Practice:
Enrichment of Mother tongue
Objective of the practice:
1. To enrich the knowledge of mother tongue in student teachers.
2. To correct their spelling. Pronunciation, stress, intonation in mother tongue.
3. To enrich their knowledge of grammar in mother tongue.
4. To make their presentation effective in mother tongue.
5. To develop language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.
6. To make the student teachers aware about culture learnt by mother tongue. Trainees are fond of mother tongue.
The context and practice:
Our college is situated in Semi- urban area. Most of the trainees are from interior regions. So, most of them speak dialect, not the language in case of Mother tongue. The importance of the mother tongue is very much in our education as well as in our life. And the mother tongue is closely associated with the development of the teaching skills. As a teacher, irrespective of their subjects, they have to have the knowledge and skills of a language (in most of the cases, it is their mother tongue) in which they are teaching. With this psychological basis in mind, our institute has started working on the improvement in the knowledge of mother tongue parallel to the official curriculum throughout the year, so that all the trainees get groomed in a scientific and psychological manner. All the trainees are divided in small group and each teacher is given the responsibility of each group. Every day we plan some small activities for developing the mastery over the mother tongue- to improve pronunciation, grammar points, presentation in mother tongue and to enrich vocabulary. We have daily routine to guide the students for their pronunciation in the mother tongue. All the teachers are involved in this activity. The use of bulletin boards for knowledge of language rules is our main focus. We also organize debate, elocution, essay competition for language mastery and activities like poetry recitation, dialogue writing, letter writing, and poetry appreciation are part of our co-curricular activities. Trainees take part in such meaningful activities with interest and as a part of their responsibility. Moreover, every year we celebrate the mother tongue day with meaningful activities.
Evidence of Success:
- Improvement in Trainees’ mother tongue- in speaking as well as in writing.
- Trainees’ presentation in Micro and Macro practice lessons.
Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
- Trainees are not conscious of their mother tongue
- They are very weak in pronunciation
- Influence of regional dialect
- Improper environment at Home
- For this they need to use the library and language laboratory.

Title of the Practice:
Seven theme based magazines are published in different forms in a year.
1. One annual magazine
2. Two hand written magazines
3. Four E-magazines
Objective of the practice:
1. To develop their language skills- reading and writing.
2. To enrich their thinking, logical and presentation skills.
3. To enrich their knowledge on various subjects.
4. To enrich their vocabulary.
The context and practice:
As a teacher, a trainee needs to be very good in reading and writing skills. To make students read on various subjects, we provide them the opportunities in form of theme based magazines. Trainees are given the different subjects for the magazines. They think, gather information and write an article on the particular topic given. Moreover, they will get different experiences for different magazines, as the forms of magazine publications are different. Two magazines are hand written magazines, four magazines are e-magazines and one is annual magazine.
Evidence of Success:
1. Publications of each magazine on time.
2. Improvement of Trainees’ performance in writing skill.
3. Enrichment of Trainees’ knowledge on various subjects.
4. Enrichment of Trainees’ vocabulary.
Problems Encountered and Resources Required:
Trainees are not much aware about the importance of reading in life. They are not reading
books out of syllabus.
2. They cannot write effectively and creatively on the topic given.
3. They should increase the use of library.
